Fashion Week Cheapass style
This month has been full of events form SuperBowl, to Super Tuesday and now Chinese New Years but we almost forgot those other people. You know those non-eaters, it’s already that time when fashionistas come out to show their slender ambiguous figures and prance on the catwalk. So we at cheapassfood.com wanted to share some cheapeats around Bryant Park that is obviously cheap but also a healthy alternative for all you istas and non.

Zeytinz
24 W. 40th Street (between 5th Ave & Avenue Of The Americas), New York, NY 10018

Zeytinz Fine Food Marketplace offers more than just healthy cuisine, serving as a quick lunch spot for people on the go in the midtown area. I love their salad bar ($6.95 per lbs) is super fresh with ingredients one can find in the farmers market with verities of pre-made salads. And their selections of produce is top rate, might be a little bit on the pricier side but money well spent. If you’re not a veggies friendly dude the dessert, cheese, or deli section might wet your palate.

Cafe Zaiya

LOCATION:
18 E 41st St, New York, NY 10017

Cheap has never looked so good, Café Zaiya located on 18 E 41st Street, is one of my favorite eateries of all time. If you too are a fan of Japanese food you will not regret going to Café Zaiya, I love to go and stare, if I could I would look all day long, it’s like porn to me. Do be prepared not to drool over the food, and get your ass in gear, during lunchtime it gets CRAZY busy.
This midsize mini mall/bodega is divided into different section, once you enter you see a papa beard to your left, prepackaged sushi open fridge, around the center is a hot buffet of Japanese curries and random stuff, and to your right is the pastry station. Today I felt like eating little snacks so I went for the veggie croquette and konbu onigiri otherwise know as seaweed rice ball wrapped in nori.

Kwik Meal Cart

LOCATION:
on the SW Corner of 45th St and 6th Ave, New York, NY

I recently stop by Kwik Meal Cart on the South West corner of 45th at 6th, and got the vegetables on Pita for $3.50. Wow! This was one of the best vegetarian meals I had in my life and this is considering vegetarian restaurants as well. On grilled pita bread were loads huge broccoli, peas, baby corn, mushrooms, tomatoes, and lettuce all sautéed in some sort of voodoo sauce. Really had no idea what it was possibly it was juice of all the beautiful veggies. They topped off the veggies with some smokin hot sauce made from a Mexican distributor, yay I thought it was sort of weird too, but it worked. For a vegetarian dish I enjoyed a lot.
