Can I start out by saying how much I love dive bars, and to find one on 14th st and 7th ave/ 8th ave is fucking amazing! I love the old school bar the décor makes you feel you are in a middle of nowhere with good company. Drunks to you right and random drunks to your left, no bullshit hype. No fucking designer shit just good food and hot bartender. I found out about McKenna's Pub through my friends co-worker who has been going for a long time, he said the burgers and fries are great and for $5, I couldn’t argue with it.
For the price and taste of it I have put McKenna’s up there with Conner Bistro and Burger Joint. But if I really had to chose I chose McKenna’s because Conner Bistro is always packed and worth the wait sometimes, and Burger Joint is not so much of a wait but for $6.50 burger only - kinda pricy.
The burger in McKenna’s is big juicy beefy patty, with lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickle plus a side of fries all for $5.00. The wait –no waiting just eat at the bar, the booths or the outdoor garden –yup they even have one of those.
