Sushi & Roll Café has no coffee do not be fooled, what they do have are sushi rolls, udon, teriyaki bowls and bi-bim-bop. Owned by a nice Korean man this very nondescript place is like a second home to me. I can speak in English when I want to and when I feeling a little home sick I whip out my Korean and chat w/ the owner. Found this place by accident dropping off some stuff at the dry cleaners, took the back way, and boom there it was. The exit door of the dry cleaners was sort of an entrance to Sushi & Roll Cafe. It was literally behind the drycleaners on 8th ave and 17th street – no kidding.
The Sushi & Roll Café is hard to miss, it’s so tiny I think they have one stool, and they put it out when ever they feel like it. I’ve been there a total of three times and twice I have sat on the uncomfortable stool and ate there, cause like I said it just feels like home. I highly recommend the spicy tuna roll I think it about 5 bucks, most rolls are bout that price, their udon is $6.95, teriyaki snack size is $4.00 and their bi-bim-bop is about $6-7. I think the rolls are far superior then the other stuff, once I got the udon on a rainy day and it did the trick, however I thought it was very salty, and the bi-bim-bop was mediocre.
In all honestly I like to go, sit and just zone out for a while, the owner doesn’t make small talk, and there is no one else sitting next to you because most likely you took the one and only chair. It’s lovely not to sit next to some dumb ass jabbering away about his job, girlfriend, boyfriend, bullshit. You know what I mean.
