Located in downtown financial district Country Kebab is a little gem in this neighborhood, especially when there’s not much cheap eats around here besides touristy seaport and hot dogs stand. I got the Beef and Lamb Doner Sandwich ($5.50) and a piece of Pistachio Baklava (85 cents).
When I first open the tin foil wrap I was surprise the Doner does not come with the pita bread but instead a tortilla. I am a bit disappointed then I sink my teeth into the doner and wow! There’s A LOT OF MEAT in this medium size doner burrito. The meat is quite juicy but lack of the charred flavor you can find at Mamoun's Falafel at West Village. So if you are a big meat eater and love big quantity of meat this is the place to be.
The Pistachio Baklava is absolutely delicious. The flaky and crunchy phyllo sheets, the pistachio and the syrup create a perfect harmony in your mouth you will never forget.
I heard that their hummus and the stuffed grape leaves are very tasty too, anybody try that?

I told them to put everything- including hot sauce in my sandwich but they didn’t. Hope there’s more white yoghurt sauce on it to balance the meat.
