Taci Beyti’s has some tasty food.
Nestled in the Midwood section of Brooklyn , Taci Beyti’s serves an array of different traditional Turkish food in big portions at affordable prices.
The family owned restaurant opened in 1986 in New Jersey . Two years later, they moved to the location it’s been in for the last 22 years.
The restaurant, which has about 72 seats and 22 tables, is not very spacious but able to accommodate big groups of people by pushing the tables together, resulting in a table fit for a king. For those who want to have parties, there is a private room located next to the restaurant.
Taci Beyti’s specializes in food from Southern Turkey . Traditional music of the country plays in the background, helping to bring out a family atmosphere to the place.
The décor is nothing to brag about. The soft orange tones are accompanied with bland pictures of medieval paintings. The service though, makes up for it, being very consistent in making sure you have everything you need.
If you’re not one to buy appetizers, you should definitely consider trying theirs. One of the first things brought out to you is a basket of warm sesame crusted bread paired wonderfully with hummus ($3.75) sided with a wedge of lemon and topped with paprika.
The Shepard salad ($6.00) was the best of the appetizers, served on a large plate, consisting of chunks of cucumbers, onions, and tomatoes. It was dressed with a wonderful mix of olive oil, lemon juice, and parsley with just a hint of dill.
They have a large selection of entrees to choose from but if your overwhelmed by the choices, choose the chicken kebab ($8.50) .Tasting like it just came off the grill; the juicy tender chunks of chicken are given with green peppers, tomatoes, and placed on a bed of onions.
They don’t have as much of a selection for dessert but it still satisfies that sweet tooth. Most of the desserts like the baklava ($2.00) consist of layers of thin dough layered with walnuts, pistachios and covered with honey syrup.
Overall, I enjoyed eating at this restaurant. With its family atmosphere and flavorful plates, it’s a great place to bring a loved one or family. I give it four stars.
