So I know New Jersey sometimes gets a bad rap from us Manhattanites but, no longer will I consider the Garden State unworthy, well at least not with cheapAsseateries. As some of you may or may not know NJ is the full of awesome Korean eats but little did I know that Fort Lee/Edgewater area has one of the best, bestest Japanese markets in the East Coast. Mitsuwa Marketplace
has all your needs when it comes to fresh sashimi, sushi, and Japanese produce.
Shocked by the sicker price of the fresh sashimi Kenneth, my sister and I grabbed their sampler and a side of assorted sushi, but our eyes were more hungry then our bellies so we ordered some hot beef soba noodles, pork cutlets (Kurobuta Katsu) and for dessert Taiyaki, sweet griddle cakes filled with sweet red beans shaped like fish. Each item was under $10 with the exception of the sashim $22.95 and well worth it. The sashimi is as fresh as it gets, the best sashimi I had in a long while; everything else is just as authentic plus the prices are unbeatable.
Do make a day trip out to the Garden State it’s not as bad as you think, once you get past Hoboken just kidding Hackensack is just as ugly.

All the items were bought in Mitsuwa and within the Market are small little retailer that sells specialized treats and eats. Our beers, sushi, and sashimi came from the supermarket whereas the soba, pork cutlet and sweet all came from different vendors within the market.
