REVIEWS:
If you have ever been to Japan and don't happen to speak Japanese (and therefore can't like eat anywhere), you quickly discover the gaijin cheap-ass' best friend: KAITEN SUSHI. These are japanese fast food, where you sit down at a counter and sushi comes around on a conveyor belt, on color coded plates. You just take what you want and at the end they add it up at the end. Wasabi and ginger are in little cups and each seat has a hot water tap and little green tea bags. Once you discover these you can survive in Japan for months with only the phrase "biiru kudasai".
A lot of the ones in Japan are actually just 100 yen per plate (about a dollar), which is a cheap-ass fantasy, especially if you are from new york where sushi is usually like 3 bucks for one piece.
So I was just in Singapore and I discovered their version of this restaurant, a chain called "Sakae Sushi." Needless to say I ate there like 5 times because I knew I wasn't going to get it again for a while. But upon returning to New York I learn that there is going to be one here, and (omg) OPENING NEXT WEEK! YAY!

I called them and they said this week they are only open for private parties, but they open soon. So I don't have pictures, but I heard the sushi bar is this like tricked-out 100 mile monstrosity. Its gonna be so hot. I just hope the prices are not "adjusted for new york". That would be the MOST disappointing.
BTW - last pic is kaiten sushi in japan not sakae sushi, but you get the idea.
