I usually eat slices on the go or out on the night but was never satisfied by all the generic places that are on every corner of Manhattan. Don’t get me wrong I think New York has great pizza pie places, Joe’s and Lombardies come to mind, yes they might be a tourist spot but are for a reason. Also they sell by the pie, which can be affordable but most likely if you at this site you want a good deal.
One day I was looking for a place for lunch hour and found a deli look-alike, Maffeis. But this was no deli! I had a classic cheese slice, toped it off with peperonchino (pepper flakes), garlic salt and parmigiana cheese (real grated parmigiana and not that fake shit from Path Mark). First bite was amazing, all the oil from the fresh mozzarella oozed out then the cheese slider down my mouth, the sauce was sweet and tangy and the bread cleaned my palate for my next bite. Real greasy New York pizza, I was pleased. The guy taking orders was very nice, made every single person who came in feel like regulars with real sincerity. My total came to $2.00 and the only thing missing with my meal was a cold beer.

Tip
The joint has stools facing the window so you can window watch and not feel awkward eating alone. And yes there Grandma is SO SWEET !!
