So we took our ass to Pies n Thighs on a hot and swampy midday afternoon- very appropriate for eatin some southern comfort food. Pies n Thighs Located on 351 Kent Ave, b/t 5th St and Williamsburg Bridge, is a dilapidated looking bar and behind it is the small petite size restaurant.
Once you step indoors the kitchen is the right there in front of your face and a couple of stools to the left and it’s pretty much it. Behind the grill/stove is couple of clammy, and greasy lookin guys and a hot young female.
For 5 buck I got a chicken biscuit, and for 8 bucks Kenneth got the pulled pork box, the box comes with a side and choices range from cheese grits, collards, pinto beans, blue cheese salad, fries, mac n cheese and mashed potato.
We sat outside to see all the smoke action; the sitting is more spacious for those with ass and thighs compared to the arrangement inside. When our food came I was so excited to have me some good Southern food, since it’s been a good 2 years from our cross country trip. The chicken biscuit was huge, the dense and buttery biscuit drenched in honey toped with nicely seasoned chicken breast was good. It was big enough to feed a lumberjack; I really enjoyed the biscuits, who knew couple of white boys could make a delightful dreamy pastry like this. Just thinking about it makes want to trek back to Brooklyn. If that is not convincing enough for you, the pulled pork was amazingly tender and not over seasoned came in a sandwich with out fancy dressing, just some coleslaw and couple of pickles. The only disappointment was the buns they were soggy like hell!
