I’m not the biggest fan of bagels, typically eat them cause they’re filling and fast. Needless to say I was not that excited when I went to H&H Bagels, the atmosphere seem very old school and sort of not kept up so I thought it might be a very cheap eat. I was wrong; maybe some of you can correct me if I’m wrong but when did a bagel cost so much, I paid $2.30 for 2 bagels and $1.25 for water (standard). I thought a bagel went for $.65 - a dollar at most but $1.15, well I got out of their sort of steaming mad, besides the price their customer service sucked.
Stumbling out I grabbed for the sourdough took a bite, no longer angry I went for a 2nd bite, I never tasted anything so good. The outer shell was slightly crustychewy with a nice bounce and the inside was moist and so flavorful a bit sweet and salty. After devouring the first one I went for the poppy seed bagel and it was just as good. It really was worth the $2.30 but would I ever go back just for the bagels, not sure, they have a H&H in Midtown and Uptown but I live in downtown. If you live downtown like I do go to Kossar’s Bialys 367 Grand Street, New York, New York 10002 (@ Essex). They have great bialys and the service is great!
TipS:
-NOt a good place to eat in, grab it togo
-Sell smears separately (meaning they do not put 1 and 2 together for ya, I don't know why)
